Burgerism to open first Yorkshire site in Meanwood on 23 September

Before dark kitchens were a trend, Burgerism was running one. Founded in Greater Manchester in 2018, the brand built its reputation on one thing: the smashed burger. Beef smashed on a grill. Brioche bun. Their house-made Burgerism sauce. Premium ingredients. Collected from the hatch, eaten in the car, and instantly thinking about coming back.

No gimmicks. No seasonal menus. A tight lineup, done properly, every time

Four stores in Manchester and one food hall. 45,000 Instagram followers and a cult following built almost entirely on word-of-mouth and repeat orders.

Listed as one of the best places to work in the UK by The Times for two years running, Burgerism takes huge pride in their team. Widely recognised as home to the best burger in the North, the reputation arrives before we do.

“Ever since we trialled the Deliveroo Editions delivery kitchen in Leeds back in 2022, we’ve wanted a more permanent home here. Somehow, it’s taken us four years to find the right location so we could get back to this great city; maybe we could do things faster, but we put a premium on doing things right. And Meanwood truly feels right. It’s got the same community feel as the Manchester neighbourhoods we operate from and we love the independent nature of the high street here. There is a clear appreciation for local brands. That’s the energy Burgerism feeds off — we’re not coming to Leeds to be another chain on the high street and we really want to become a part of the community here much like we’ve done in Manchester,” said Mark Murphy — Founder, Burgerism

The Meanwood store brings Burgerism’s full menu to Leeds — a deliberately small lineup that the team have spent years getting exactly right. Orders can be placed in store, online at burgerism.co.uk or for delivery on Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

The Meanwood opening marks Burgerism’s first permanent store outside Greater Manchester in its eight-year history.
