A Cheltenham entrepreneur has launched his very own liquid laundry soap which has been inspired by his French heritage.
Alex Besnard has taken Lavoir from concept to market-ready product in just seven months.
Made and bottled in small batches in Cheltenham, Lavoir’s La Lessive is made with real Savon de Marseille soap flakes, water, and Lavoir’s signature perfume from Grasse in France – the French home of perfume.
La Lessive can be used for linen, towels, bedding and everyday washing.
The entrepreneur was inspired by his Mamie Lou who would always say “the care we give to linen is the care we give to our home.”
Determined to honour his gran, Alex set out to bring the memory of late-summer sheets drying outside in her garden to homes in the UK.
Founder Alex Besnard said: “La Lessive began as a way to honour the women who shaped my idea of care – the everyday kind passed down through family, home and habit.
“This first collection is especially for my grandmother, Mamie Lou, and the memory of late-summer sheets drying outside in her garden.
“Clean, sun-warmed and familiar, this perfume is my attempt to bottle that memory – and bring a little of it into every wash.
“I’m proud to call Cheltenham home and to be bottling La Lessive in the town I love. Inspired by my French roots, Lavoir is British made with our metal tins sourced locally in Tewkesbury and our labels printed in Kent.
“Thank you for all the support I’ve received so far as I start on my journey to turn my dream into a reality.” To purchase one of the first batches, please visit: www.lavoir.co.uk.
Each first-batch order arrives wrapped by hand, with a complimentary embroidered natural cotton Lavoir tea towel.
