Hawkstone, the fast-growing British beer brand, has announced a major pledge to support the nation’s struggling hop industry, beginning with the launch of its new limited-edition pale ale, Nectar.
Described as “spring in a can,” Nectar is a juicy and bright pale ale brewed with 100% British hops. But the launch marks more than just a new beer; it signals a new mission. Hawkstone is officially pledging to transition all its beer recipes to 100% British hops by March 2028.
The British hop industry has been in steady decline since 1885. In a move to reverse this trend, Hawkstone is putting its money where its mouth is. Based on the brand’s growth plans, its investment is set to add a staggering 15% to the total land planted with hops in the UK over the Hawkstone’s pledge is a direct investment in a new wave of British-bred hop varieties—like Harlequin, Olicana, and UK Cascade—which deliver the tropical fruit flavours modern drinkers want while being perfectly suited to the British climate. The initiative aims to be the catalyst for a full-scale ‘BritHop’ revival, encouraging the wider industry to back British farming.
Nectar is the first taste of this mission. It is available now as a limited edition at hawkstone.com.
