Lidl sees spike in sales of garden products as shoppers get ready to spend the Bank Holiday weekend in their gardens

With the Easter bank holiday on the horizon, British households are gearing up to spend the long weekend in their gardens after flocking to Lidl to stock up on garden essentials.

With the warmer weather getting people in the gardening mood, the discounter has seen a jump in sales of seeds and bulbs which surged by over a third in March. Soil and mulch were also in demand, with sales climbing nearly 50% in the same period last year*.

Middle of Lidl fans were also drawn back to their favourite part of the store, with the discounter’s Parkside gardening range, which included items such as a pressure washer, electric scarifier and large walk-in greenhouse, experiencing a jump of over 10% in sales*.

Lidl has also revealed its opening hours for the upcoming Easter weekend, with all stores in England and Wales confirmed to close on Sunday.

Stores will be open as normal on the Good Friday and Saturday. And, with Saturday predicted to be the busiest day, the discounter has confirmed that the quietest times to shop will be between 8am–10am or after 6pm. Opening hours on Monday will vary across the country, so customers should check their local store’s opening hours via the online store finder or through the Lidl Plus app.
