Today, leading accessible health and beauty retailer Superdrug, has revealed how health and beauty shopping habits vary across the country, as the retailer celebrates the 15th birthday of its Health & Beautycard.
Based on Health & Beautycard purchases over the past 12 months, Scotland topped the skincare rankings with an index of 125, while Hampshire and Sussex led for cosmetics at 126. West Yorkshire recorded the highest wellness index at 139, while Central and West London led for sexual wellbeing at 133, followed by East London at 131.
| Rank | Top regions for skincare | Top regions for cosmetics | Top regions for sexual wellbeing | Top regions for wellness |
| 1 | Scotland (125) | Hampshire and Sussex (126) | Central London (West) (133) | West Yorkshire (139) |
| 2 | Birmingham West (117) | Birmingham East (121) | East London (131) | Birmingham West (131) |
| 3 | Birmingham East (116) | Manchester (121) | Kent (128) | Lancashire and Cumbria (129) |
| 4 | North East (111) | Birmingham West (111) | Manchester (125) | Hampshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire (125) |
| 5 | West Yorkshire (111) | Scotland (111) | Birmingham West (107) | Hampshire and Dorset (109) |
Index: 100 represents the national average. A figure above 100 indicates that the region spends proportionally more than the national average on that category.
Toria Bloomfield, from Thetford, Norfolk, is Superdrug’s second most loyal Health & Beautycard customer. She said: “I’ve been shopping at Superdrug for as long as I can remember, from weekend trips into town with my mum as a teenager to now stocking up on my favourite skincare, beauty and fragrance products. I’ve always loved the choice and value for money, and there’s always something new to discover.
“The Health & Beautycard was a game changer for me. I love taking advantage of the member prices and offers, especially when treating myself on payday! Over the years I’ve found so many favourites, including the Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser, Collagen Day and Night Creams and Fruity shower gels.
“The team at my local store are always so friendly and helpful too, which makes shopping there such a lovely experience. After all these years, Superdrug is still my go-to for health and beauty.”
Simon Comins, chief operating Oofficer at Superdrug, said: “For 15 years, Health & Beautycard has been about giving our customers more value every time they shop with us and rewarding them for choosing Superdrug. Reaching this milestone is an opportunity to thank our members, particularly those who have been with us for many years.
“Value has always been at the heart of Superdrug. We want our customers to know they can come to us for the health and beauty products they love at accessible prices, with their Health & Beautycard giving them even more from every shop. We’re proud of what the programme has delivered and look forward to continuing to offer our members great value and meaningful rewards.”
