Myprotein founder on new venture: “We’re fixing the greens category”

Oliver Cookson, founder of Myprotein and Verve

The founder of the multimillion-pound brand Myprotein has launched a new venture.

Oliver Cookson has set up multi nutrient brand Verve in a bid to shake up the supplements industry. The company is being led by Chief Executive Officer Georgia Copp-Barton (THG, Revolution Beauty and Accenture), Head Of Brand Marketing, Luke Brocklehurst (Nike, Adidas, ASICS (APAC), The Iconic (Aus) & BBC) and Andrew Gibert (Martin McColl, Whitbread, MyProtein).

The business leader, entrepreneur and philanthropist disrupted the sports nutrition industry in 2004 with his creation of Myprotein® and is keen to disrupt yet another sector with Verve – the game-changing comprehensive nutrition brand and daily health habit designed to help you be your best.

Oliver Cookson, founder of Verve, said: “The Greens category is broken and Verve is here to fix it. Everyone lists ingredients but no one is transparent about the amounts, so customers aren’t getting the quality and nutrient density they deserve. Verve turns that on its head. With 100% transparency, there’s nothing to hide, and everything to gain. It not only has the best quality greens, but also offers vitamins, minerals, and superfoods. It simplifies all of your daily nutritional needs in one go, so it’s the perfect health supplement.”

Verve’s first product, V80 is a healthy, fully-loaded nutrient powder. It contains 80 active ingredients to boost vitality, energy levels, immune function & wellness. With a formula approved by a top Nutraceutical & Dietary Supplement Expert and Sports Performance Specialist.

Cookson admits that the origins of his latest venture come from his personal health experiences. He comments, “As a business leader, entrepreneur and philanthropist I don’t always put my health first. I know I’m not alone – balancing work, social and family life can leave little time for self-care. After living through a pandemic, not having the time for colds, and generally needing a little more energy and vitality, I looked for a decent multivitamin that would help supplement my diet, perk up my immune system and contribute to my all-around health and wellness.”

The entrepreneur leaned on his expertise and began developing his bespoke mix of ingredients for personal use that would give him everything he needed in one scoop. It wasn’t until he began speaking to friends who had experienced the same difficulty finding a multifunctional product that the idea for Verve struck him.

Verve was created with busy people in mind. It’s targeted towards those who don’t have the time to source and prepare copious amounts of fruits and vegetables to juice and blend daily. It’s a practical, cost-effective, great-tasting solution to all of that.

Honesty is the founding principle of Verve, the brand is 100% transparent about each of its 80 ingredients, how they complement each other and their real-world benefits. Cookson adds, “ I insist that we use only the absolute best quality, ethically sourced ingredients and, working with the world’s leading nutritionists, we’ve produced a premium, great tasting product that is all of the goodness and none of the hassle.”

“I’m personally very proud of the flavour profile of Verve. After hundreds of iterations, we landed on the fresh flavour that is infused with real fruit and contains absolutely nothing artificial (and never will!). Verve’s unique, refreshing taste really sets it apart from a category that, let’s face it, usually tastes pretty grim.”

Under Cookson’s stewardship, one of the main reasons that Myprotein® became Europe’s leading sports nutrition brand was the fact his customers and community trusted him to never compromise. The same is promised at Verve, the brand guarantees it won’t compromise on the quality of the product or the quality of the experience,

Just months after launching, the brand has seen great success. TikTok searches for the brand have surged by 800% and views for its hashtag, #vavaverve are already at 33,000. The brand shows no signs of slowing down in the coming months and years. Cookson and his team plan on growing the Verve community worldwide with no compromises. They aim to remain the forefront of health and wellness, and partner with customers to bring products and experiences that will help enhance your health and improve their lives.
