Paul SmithNewmark’s Travel Retail team has been appointed by Britain’s leading independent design company, Paul Smith, to advise on its ambitious expansion strategy, with opportunities for airport duty-free and cruise operators to add the global brand to their retail offering.

The appointment marks a new relationship between Newmark Retail’s London-based strategic travel retail team and Paul Smith. Newmark will work alongside Paul Smith’s team to support its expansion around the globe and present its offering to operators at a time when the travel retail market continues to grow at pace, with sales set to swell to $145.9 billion over the next three years.

Paul Smith is a globally recognised designer, having opened its first shop in Nottingham, UK, over 50 years ago. Today, it has more than 130 stores in more than 60 countries, and locations at a number of key travel hubs, including London Heathrow Terminals 2, 3 and 5, Copenhagen Airport and Shinsegae Centum Duty Free, Busan, South Korea.

Its design philosophy of ‘classic with a twist’ has been an iconic part of its approach since its very first piece and is a key part of its appeal to shoppers around the globe. Paul Smith champions positivity, curiosity and creativity, underpinning every Paul Smith design, shop or a special collaboration.

The designer will be exhibiting its offering, including fashion and accessories, on the Newmark stand at this year’s TFWA Cannes. The show is taking place from 29th September to 3rd October at The Palais des Festivals and is one of the world’s largest trade shows in travel retail.

Speaking on the appointment, Simon Black, executive managing director and head of travel retail for Newmark Retail, said: “Paul Smith is an instantly recognisable brand around the globe and is one of Britain’s greatest designers.

“Our expertise, experience and insight in the travel retail sector gives us so many fantastic opportunities. We are really thrilled to be able to represent such an established brand as it embarks on a growth strategy in this channel.”

Ashley Long, chief executive officer of Paul Smith, added: “We have a historic relationship with Newmark and it’s one we are always looking to build on. Being a part of the TFWA Cannes is an exciting avenue to grow and reach new audiences.”

Newmark Retail’s travel retail team is the largest travel retail and airport consultancy business in Europe. Operating on a global basis, it supports landlords and retailers developing their business in the travel retail sector.
