UV rays and swimming in chlorinated pools can effect the hair says Anabel Kingsley from Philip Kingsley

Spring has sprung and therefore summer is just around the corner. Meaning that we will be out in the sun, soaking up UV rays and swimming in chlorinated pools, or salty sea water.

When enjoying all of these activities, it is very important to also protect our skin and hair, see below for Anabel Kingsley’s top tips this summer to keep hair in the best condition…

  1. Restore Moisture and Strength

Time in the sun, sea and pool can decrease the hair’s moisture content – and hair that is dry is less elastic and breaks far more easily than it should. Use the pre shampoo treatment –  Elasticizer – to instantly hydrate and add moisture to add that is dehydrated.

  1. Protect the hair from further damage when styling

When blow-drying, help guard strands from heat damage with a heat protective conditioning product (Frizz Fighting Gloss). However, no matter how good the heat protective product is, it will only protect your hair to a certain extent – so be careful and try to let hair dry and, be styled, naturally.

Use volumising products when styling the hair, rather than adding more heat to the hair. Our Body Building Range is amazing to lift the hair, give a movie star bounce and leave it looking fuller.

  1. What hair product should everyone use during the summer months and why?

One product that protects the hair from all of the harmful elements, such as sun, sea and chlorine, is the Swimcap. Originally formulated for the US Olympic Synchronized Swim Team, it guards hair from UV rays, salt and pool water damage, and at the same time gives hair a hydrating treatment.
