VincaVinca, the award-winning 100% organic wine company, will launch its sustainable, recyclable aluminium bottled red and white wines into M&S Food stores across the UK on 6th May 2026.

Celebrated for its collection of award-winning canned wines, first introduced in 2021, Vinca pushed the boundaries of sustainable wine innovation even further with its launch of the UK’s first ever wines in full-sized 100% recycled aluminium bottles (RRP £10.50 for 750ml).

The lightweight bottles are available in organic red (Syrah & Nero D’avola) and organic white (Catarratto), grown under the Sicilian sun in family-owned, sustainable vineyards.

Vinca’s 100% PCR (post-consumer recycled) aluminium bottles – compared with just 60% recycled content in glass – chill wine faster and have a wine-grade lining inside, keeping the wine as fresh as the day the grapes were crushed.

Producing the bottle uses four times less CO₂ than glass – and each one weighs just 68g empty, compared with an average of 450g for a glass wine bottle. Their sleek shape also means smaller cases for transporting, so 40% more wine bottles fit in each shipping container, leading to vast reductions in carbon emissions. This space-saving design also allows retailers to merchandise three Vinca bottles in the same space as two glass bottles.

Switching from glass to aluminium has multiple positive environmental impacts, including:

  • Vinca’s bottles are five times less carbon-intensive to produce than glass. (Raw production: aluminium 0.129 kgCO₂e vs glass 1.03 kgCO₂e)

  • The bottles reduce carbon emissions by nearly 50% compared to glass, as a result of weight savings and more efficient stacking in shipping. (1.18 kgCO₂e vs 2.24 kgCO₂e per bottle)

  • The aluminium bottles have a 47% lower total carbon footprint than glass, and are infinitely recyclable.

  • Glass bottles generate almost double the carbon footprint of Vinca’s aluminium bottles – before they even hit the shelf. (Glass: 2.24 kgCO₂e vs Vinca’s aluminium bottle: 1.18 kg CO₂e when filled and distributed)

  • Switching from glass to Vinca’s aluminium bottles cuts 1.06 kgCO₂e per bottle – the equivalent of charging your phone 135 times. (Based on ~8g CO₂ per charge)

The bottles will be available in M&S Food stores in a choice of two award-winning wines:

The crisp white: Organic Catarratto (750ml; 11%)

Vinca’s white wine is made from Catarratto, the grape synonymous with excellent Sicilian whites. The grapes are lightly pressed, then fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain all the crisp, tropical and citrus fruit notes.

The juicy red: Organic Syrah & Nero D’avola (750ml; 12%)

Vinca’s organic red wine from Sicily is a bold yet beautifully balanced blend of Syrah & Nero D’avola. On the nose, rich dark berries and ripe plum mingle with hints of black pepper, violet and a touch of smoky spice. The palate is smooth and generous, bursting with juicy blackberry and cherry, layered with subtle notes of dark chocolate and earthy spice. Silky tannins and fresh acidity give the wine a refined structure, leading to a long, elegant finish with lingering hints of spice and dark fruit. A perfect match for pizza, pasta, grilled meats or a selection of aged cheeses.

Vinca’s co-founder, Charlie Vass, said: “Seeing our bottles arrive in M&S Food is a major milestone for us. Vinca set out to prove that you don’t have to accept the environmental cost of glass to enjoy great wine. This format lets us keep everything we care about in the liquid, while dramatically reducing the impact around it. For us, this is what progress in wine should look like.”

Harriet Coates, wine buyer at Marks & Spencer, said: “At M&S, we’re always looking for ways to offer customers great quality wine with a lower environmental footprint. Vinca’s aluminium bottles are an innovative step forward, combining strong sustainability credentials with wines that deliver on flavour and quality. We’re delighted to be introducing them to our stores.”

Vinca works closely with small, family-owned vineyards in Sicily, ensuring fair pay and a commitment to organic and sustainable farming.

Vinca’s organic red and white bottled wines are available to buy online with free carbon-offset shipping at vincawine.com, at Booths in the north of England and at 300 Tesco stores across the UK. They will also be stocked in 116 M&S Food stores across the UK from 6th May 2026.
