Delivering the best in flavour and quality, Waitrose is expanding its No.1 premium Indian ready meal range, launching seven new products across main meals, sides and snacks.

With Indian ready meal favourites like our Waitrose Indian Fish Curry and Indian Butter Chicken up 188% and 43% compared to the same period last year, our customers are continuing to look for their favourite restaurant meals to enjoy at home. Our new No.1 range has therefore been crafted to deliver authentic flavours, elevated by refined cooking techniques and the highest quality ingredients.

Searches on Waitrose.com show that ‘Indian meal for 2’ and ‘Indian food’ is up 315% and 69% respectively compared to this time last month, with customers eager to enjoy their favourite Indian flavours at home. In the last week, searches on Waitrose.com have seen a notable rise of 81% in ‘Indian ready meals’, as customers increasingly seek ‘fakeaways’ that fit their busy lifestyles while still enjoying restaurant-quality food at home.

This reflects a wider growing popularity in Indian cuisine, with new restaurant openings such as Colonel Saab and Bombay Bustle, and Indian cuisine dominating social conversation. On TikTok, searches for ‘Indian curry’ are up 60% and searches for ‘comfort meals’ have seen a 91% uplift in the last week.

Manisha Kotecha, Waitrose product developer for Indian ready meals, comments: “Due to the growing appetite for gourmet ready meals, we have launched a premium Indian ready meal range at Waitrose, designed to allow customers to enjoy the flavours of this cuisine. Our products are made with quality ingredients and spices, focusing on taste and authenticity with every dish.”
