Seasonal products by Moo Free, Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda, Booja-Booja, Coop, M&S, NOMO, Sainsbury’s, The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co, Tesco, Ocado, Bubbling Stove, Chocolates by Design and Catherine’s Originals have triumphed in the Free From Easter Award 2025, announced on Tuesday.
The results of this Award that sits within the main annual Free From Food Awards are announced early in the calendar, allowing winning brands to promote their successes in the run up to Easter Day on April 20th.
Easter confectionery is not all about choc eggs and it’s not all about kids either. This is the first year that we have, due to the entries received, felt it relevant to further divide the category between those products more appealing and engaging for kids and those with a greater appeal to an older audience.
Gold winners include Moo Free and NOMO, both with kid-friendly Easter Egg Hunt Packs “delicious chocolate varieties within, all individually wrapped”, and Asda and Sainsbury’s, both with three egg selections “flavours to talk about, in elegant giftable formats”.
Newcomer Catherine’s Originals took Bronze for their Eggstravaganza (“Fantastic eye-catching packaging, the concept is simple, perfectly delivered and the chocolate is absolutely delicious”) and Morrison’s The Best Caramel Flavour Choc Egg & Truffles with Anglesey Sea Salt (“Exciting and mature design and the product delivers beautiful flavour combinations at a good price”).
“For the fourth year running, we welcomed a 75% increase in Easter entries, which further supports our 2024 insights that brands and retailers are investing in seasonal,” says Awards’ COO Nicki Clowes.
Golds also went to two traditional hot cross buns: Asda’s Free From 4 Hot Cross Buns (top 14 free) and Tesco’s Free From 4 Hot Cross Buns.
“All Easter gold winners go through to the final of the main Free From Food Awards, open until February 28th,” explained Clowes. “The winners will be announced and celebrated at our famous Awards Presentation Party in late June (date TBC).”
