Jack’s Creek Wagyu X is a premium cross of two of the most renowned marbling breeds – Wagyu and Black Angus which are raised in the fertile agricultural region of New South Wales. Nurtured in naturally unspoilt and diverse environments, the cattle have been carefully bred for exceptional taste, tenderness and juiciness to deliver a truly unique dining experience.
Talking of the new listings, Kaine Allan from Jack’s Creek says: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Ocado Retail to extend our reach within the UK and bring some of our finest products to its customers. This is the first time our Wagyu X beef will be available in retail, and we’re thrilled to be taking it nationwide, exclusively with Ocado.
“The UK has a sophisticated and increasingly diverse palate when it comes to steak, resulting in a growing demand for prestige cuts and premium cattle varieties that are known for their intricate marbling and superior eating quality. Our Wagyu X cattle graze the rich Australian grasslands for their entire lives and then for the final 400 days they feed on a specifically formulated diet of high-quality feed grains. This balanced feeding process enhances the marbling and rich flavour that Wagyu beef is celebrated for, resulting in a truly exceptional product.”
Tom Bryan, trading manager for Meat, Fish, Poultry and Eggs at Ocado Retail, says: Steak is popular at the moment, and we know our customers love the unbeatable choice we offer, with over 62 varieties of beef steak already available on Ocado, we’re constantly expanding our selection to meet growing customer demand. We’ve seen a 120% surge in searches for ‘wagyu beef’ over the past year, clearly demonstrating this appetite for premium cuts. We are thrilled to be the exclusive grocery retailer of the Jack’s Creek steak range. This brand represents exceptional quality and aligns perfectly with Ocado’s commitment to delivering great quality produce to our customers – we predict that the steaks will be very popular indeed!

Australian Wagyu and the Aussie Beef & Lamb standard
Since the 1990s Australia has emerged as a prominent force in Wagyu production. It has the world’s second largest Wagyu herd and was one of the first countries to perfect Wagyu rearing methods outside of Japan. Australian Wagyu has unique flavour, and with its consistent quality is considered equivalent to Japanese Wagyu. Australia is the largest exporter of Wagyu beef in the world with an estimated 300,000 Wagyu cattle on feed in Australia in 2022. Estimated boxed production value for 2023 was £2billion, with around 80% exported to more than 40 different countries.
Meat and Livestock Australia, custodians of the Aussie Beef & Lamb brand that is used to denote premium quality and the highest standards of animal welfare and food safety, is supporting the Jack’s Creek listing with Ocado. It will be providing educational and marketing materials that highlight the sustainability and animal welfare standards of Australian red meat.
Richard Sanders, country manager – UK for Meat & Livestock Australia said: “We’re extremely proud of Jack’s Creek having secured this listing with Ocado, it speaks volumes of the growth in the market driven by increasing awareness among retailers, not just around the consistency and quality of Australian red meat, but also our sustainability and animal welfare credentials.
“Consumers can be assured that any product that features the Aussie Beef & Lamb brand is produced in a sustainable way, utilising Australia’s world-leading traceability and grading programmes. It’s a mark of quality and can be used to reassure consumers of the highest food safety and animal welfare standards.
“Australian beef supply on the whole is looking very promising heading into 2025 and beyond following a herd rebuild phase, the herd reached a peak in 2023 and is expected to remain stable into 2026 and 2027. High carcass weights are expected to sustainably drive Australian beef production to record highs in 2025. While Australia represents just 3% of global beef production, we punch well above our weight in terms of global exports, accounting for 13% of global beef exports. This demand is driven by trust in the quality, consistency and safety of Australian red meat.
