Löfbergs Brazil Single Origin Coffee wins Great Taste Award

Swedish coffee brand, Löfbergs, has won a prestigious Great Taste Award for its Brazil Single Origin coffee. With sweet notes of chocolate and a long, hazelnutty aftertaste, Löfbergs’ Brazil is made with 100% Arabica peaberries, with a rich and creamy flavour profile. The medium-dark roast is available as a whole bean or ground coffee and is certified by the Rainforest Alliance, so you can savour it knowing the coffee growers and Brazil’s biodiversity are being supported.

Once the beans have been sourced directly from the world’s most revered coffee growing regions, it is the blending & roasting process where the unique characteristics of each bean variety start to emerge.  At Löfbergs, the blending & roasting process is a synergy of both art and a science.

Johnny England, director of coffee at Löfbergs, said: “We’re thrilled that our Brazil Single Origin coffee beans have been recognised by the Great Taste Awards. At Löfbergs we slow roast our whole bean coffees in our state-of-the art roastery. This style of roasting ensures our coffees develop their optimal flavour intensity whilst reducing the acidity levels inherent in coffee, resulting in a more balanced, sweet and smoother finish.”

Established in 1906, Löfbergs was founded by three brothers in the town of Karlstad, Sweden. A meticulous blend of tradition, innovation, and sustainable practices ensure every cup is a tribute to this rich heritage. The company’s identity is rooted in the Nordic Fika tradition, that is that taking a coffee break is more than just drinking coffee – it’s a way of life that is about slowing down and connecting – quite the opposite of Brits’ quick caffeine hit protocol.

England added: “In Sweden, Fika is deeply ingrained in daily life. While in the UK, coffee is often viewed as a quick source of energy to kickstart the day, Swedes approach it differently – they focus on taking time to savour and enjoy it. This slower, more mindful relationship with coffee also means they hold high standards. If you’re aiming to sell coffee in Sweden, it’s got to be good.”

Today the coffee producer roasts the equivalent of 10 million cups of coffee per day, from its Nordic home of Karlstad. By prioritising 100% certified sustainable coffee beans, Löfbergs’ supports environmentally friendly farming practices and fair wages for farmers. This ethical approach not only makes Löfbergs’ coffee taste better, but also ensures that the environment and the communities involved in the coffee production process thrive.

The win comes as the business announces new retail listings in Waitrose, Tesco, Ocado, Morrisons and Co-Op, following its UK launch 18 months ago.

Lofbergs’ Brazil Whole Coffee Beans, £12.50/1kg.

A classic expression of a natural processed Brazilian arabica coffee, grown in the high-altitude region of Cerrado.Rich and sweet with notes of milk chocolate, roasted nuts and hints of brioche, balanced with a bittersweet aftertaste. Fantastic brewed as a straight espresso or combined with your favourite milk/ milk alternative to create an indulgent, creamy flat white or cappuccino.
