Build-A-Bear Workshop has teamed up with Uber Direct, Uber’s white-label delivery service, to bring faster, more flexible deliveries to UK customers this festive season. Shoppers can receive Build-A-Bear teddy bears and other plush toys from 33 stores nationwide on the day they order, with a scheduled delivery slot.
This collaboration builds on a successful partnership in the US, where customers already enjoy same-day delivery through Uber’s network of couriers. Build-A-Bear is now providing its UK customers with greater speed and convenience. Customers can pick out a furry friend and personalise it with outfits, scents, sounds and accessories – and have it delivered the same day within participating delivery zones.
The partnership comes just in time for the busy sales period in the run up to Christmas, when convenience, reliability and speed are key to winning over shoppers. A recent study by Retail Economics and Uber Direct found that 52% of consumers surveyed would pay extra to receive goods within two hours.*
Colleen Draper, retail and operations director Europe at Build-A-Bear Workshop, said: “We’re all about adding a little more heart to life for families and their loved ones – but we know that not everyone can visit a store, especially during the festive frenzy. By partnering with Uber Direct, we’re making it easier for rushed shoppers to get their hands on meaningful gifts when they are needed most. This reflects our focus on accessibility, emotional connection and meeting guests’ needs wherever they are”.
Caroline Varga, regional manager, Uber Direct EMEA, said: “Build-A-Bear furry friends make the perfect gift for any occasion, including last minute or spontaneous surprises. This new same-day delivery option will help the brand to stand out by reaching new shoppers and strengthening bonds with long time customers. We’re excited to partner with the team in the UK and help even more people experience the joy of Build-A-Bear.”
The same-day service will be powered by Uber Direct’s best-in-class courier network, also used by Uber Eats. Build-A-Bear customers can also track their courier’s progress in real time, providing the reassurance of knowing exactly when items will arrive.
