Asda unveils seven new summer wine lines, and one is tipped to be the next prosecco

Asda Asda has announced the addition of seven new wine lines for summer, with three new products landing into its popular Wine Atlas range and four into its new Exceptional range – Asda’s premium tier, own-brand offering.

Asda’s Wine Atlas range, is all about helping customers discover ‘lesser known’ grape varieties and wine-growing regions from around the world without leaving the supermarket aisle. Created in collaboration with expert growers and producers from a variety of renowned and emerging wine regions, the range offers expertly crafted, premium-quality wines at affordable prices (all under £7).

Bringing shoppers the NEW must-have fizz for summer, the IWC Silver 2025 award-winning Wine Atlas Garda Sparkling Wine (£6.97) is a hero line tipped to be the new prosecco.

This crisp, refreshing sparkler hails from the sun-drenched shores of Italy’s largest lake, Garda, where grapes have been cultivated since Roman times. Crafted from the Garganega grape but made using the Charmat method – the same process that gives prosecco its signature bubbles – the fizz is bursting with juicy notes of white peach and Mirabelle plum and will pair perfectly with fish, white meats and summer salads.

The other award-winning (IWSC Silver 2025) Wine Atlas addition includes the Wine Atlas Cinsault (£6.97), a South African velvety red with ripe cherry notes and touches of plum and spice. This wine is light enough to be enjoyed as a chilled red this summer, or makes a great pairing to a light BBQ plate.

The third entrant is the vibrant Wine Atlas Albarino (£7.97) from New Zealand. With notes of citrus, melon and a hint of lime, it has a rich minerality on the finish, making the refreshing white pair well with sea food from the grill this summer.

Exceptional by name but even more exceptional by nature, a new addition into the Exceptional range is the Exceptional By Asda White Burgundy (£11.13) which has just too won an IWSC Silver Medal. This bespoke wine combines creamy, peachy, unoaked Chardonnay with savoury, nutty, and spicy barrel-matured wine to balance both styles. The savoury edge makes the wine pair well with garlicky chicken or Caesar salads.

Another new addition is the Exceptional By Asda Grüner Veltliner (£8.12) from Austria. The wine is made in a light, crisp, and aromatic style with classic green apple, peach and guava fruit flavours, with an added hint of spice. Brilliantly paired with lighter summery dishes, it compliments those with Asian flavours.

The Exceptional By Asda Grillo (£6.92) is a refreshing, fruity white wine from Sicily, with Mirabelle plum and citrus notes, and hints of wildflowers and herbs. It makes a great accompaniment to seafood and white meat dishes, particularly those cooked with Mediterranean herbs on the barbecue.

A new red star in the Exceptional range is the Exceptional By Asda Cahors Malbec (£7.47) from France. Deep purple in colour with plummy fruit flavours, it has a meaty, savoury edge and a firm structure, making it the perfect red to pair with hearty BBQ burgers, steaks and other meats.

Last month, Asda topped the Decanter World Wine Awards rankings with the most gold medals of any UK supermarket, after also being revealed as the most awarded UK supermarket at the International Wine Challenge, winning 155 medals.

Asda’s new summer wine lines are available in stores and online now.
