Calypso announces major global expansion strategy with 2026 Europe-led innovation

King Juice Company, Inc., owner of Calypso, has announced a bold new phase of international growth driven by a multi-year investment into the European market. This expansion introduces a new line of sparkling zero-sugar lemonades and a formulation refresh of Calypso’s iconic core lemonade portfolio complemented by two exciting new flavours.

This innovation strategy marks Calypso’s most ambitious move for Europe to date. Retailers are increasingly seeking beverages that resonate with younger shoppers and gain standout within crowded drinks fixtures. In response, Calypso is introducing modernised packaging, reduced-sugar recipes and new formats specifically catered to European consumer preferences. This will unlock fresh consumption occasions and attract new consumer groups while staying true to the brand’s signature “Taste of the Islands” identity.

Calypso enters the sparkling drinks category in can format
The new Zero Sugar Sparkling Lemonade range will be available in 330ml can format and debut in three vibrant flavours: Blood Orange Breeze, Apple Oasis and Berry Bloom – developed to resonate with consumers who prioritise flavour, low sugar, recyclability, and striking design. Retailer feedback from the Anuga 2025 preview described the transition into cans as “a natural and long-awaited evolution for Calypso in Europe” that will create incremental retail opportunities.

Core glass range gets a shake up
In addition, Calypso has reformulated their core lemonade line, reducing the sugar by nearly 60% whilst maintaining the intensity and delicious flavour expected by fans of the global brand. This is in response to increased consumer and customer demand for lower-sugar options and follows successful consumer market testing in the UK. This refreshed product line will also feature two new flavours: Yuzu Lychee Lemonade and Sunset Peach Lemonade. Both will be served in Calypso’s iconic 473ml glass bottles, combining trend-driven flavour profiles with the vibrant aesthetic the brand is known for.

Shipments of the innovation will begin in January 2026. The launch will be supported by comprehensive retail activations and exciting consumer campaigns in key European markets throughout 2026 including the UK, Germany and France.

Francesco Falletti di Villafalletto, managing director at King Juice Europe, commented: “This launch is a major strategic milestone for the brand. For the first time, we have developed an entire pipeline of innovation exclusively for Europe. We are investing heavily in the region, committed to innovation for years to come, and focused on expanding the lemonade category through products that offer consumers genuine choice and refreshing new flavours. This is the beginning of a long-term roadmap centred on sustainable category brand growth and the needs of global consumers.”

With a strengthened portfolio, modernised identity and a committed multi-year innovation pipeline, Calypso is entering its most dynamic period of international expansion yet.
