Walker’s Shortbread, the trusted, family-run bakery that has been baking ‘Scotland’s finest’ for 128 years, has announced the launch of its new, limited-edition Queen’s Commemorative Tin in the global travel retail market. Exclusive to Avolta, the product is available now in its World Duty Free stores across UK airports.
The beautifully designed, golden tin features a classic black and white portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II, adorned with her crown and jewellery, making it a unique collector’s item for travellers and admirers of the Royal Family. Inside, it holds Walker’s all butter assorted shaped shortbreads – including crown rounds, union jack shortbread and Walker’s famous shortbread fingers – still baked in the heart of the Highlands using only four quality ingredients: butter, flour, sugar and a pinch of salt.
The launch honours Walker’s ongoing connection with the Royal Family, with King Charles III (then Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay) opening the Aberlour factory in 2001 and Walker’s head office, Aberlour House, in 2008. The company was also granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment from His Majesty King Charles III in 2024 for the supply of shortbread and oatcakes. This followed the granting of Royal Warrants from the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2017 and the Queen Mother in 2002, reflecting a history of royal recognition that underscores the brand’s unwavering commitment to the highest standards of quality.
Bryony Walker, commercial director at Walker’s Shortbread, said: “Our new commemorative tin reflects Walker’s long-standing association with the Royal Household and the craftsmanship behind our Scottish heritage. We are delighted to partner with Avolta to offer this exclusive collector’s item to passengers in travel retail. It represents a piece of Scottish heritage and a celebration of a remarkable legacy, allowing travellers to take home a gift that is both meaningful and delicious.”
Eve Fifer, commercial director in the UK at Avolta, said: “Products with a strong sense of place are an important part of the travel retail experience, particularly when they combine local heritage with a distinctive gifting opportunity. Walker’s is synonymous with Scottish provenance, and this limited-edition commemorative tin brings together the brand’s heritage, craftsmanship and iconic shortbread in a format created especially for travellers. We are pleased to offer it exclusively through our World Duty Free stores across UK airports.”
The launch arrives during a milestone year for the brand, coinciding with Walker’s recently being honoured with the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise – a distinction that recognises its ongoing excellence in international trade.
The Queen’s Commemorative Tin (300g) is perfectly positioned as a premium keepsake. Inside, it contains Walker’s shortbread – an all-butter, indulgent treat, perfect for enjoying on the go, at home, or to share with family and friends. The limited-edition tin is available now at an RRP of £15.50.
