Former footballer announces new business venture and partnership with Sainsbury’s

Raw Hydrate: the next generation of hydration drinks launches in Sainsbury’s

Former Premier League footballer and founder of the award-winning brand The Turmeric Co., Thomas ‘Hal’ Robson Kanu, has announced the launch of a second functional drinks brand; Raw Hydrate (www.rawhydrate.com).
Developed over 20 years, Raw Hydrate represents an innovative and unique step into the world of hydration drinks that prioritises natural, minimal and good-for-the-body ingredients and great taste. The refreshingly simple range, comprised of three delicious flavours, harnesses the power of watermelon and natural electrolytes for next-level hydration, fluid balance, muscle function, and regulated blood pressure.
Available from 15th October, Raw Hydrate will be available to purchase from Sainsbury’s nationwide (in store via the ‘Food to Go’ shelves) in Mint (94% watermelon, 5% lemon, 1% mint), Pineapple (80% watermelon, 14% pineapple, 6% lemon) and Pomegranate (76% watermelon, 20% pomegranate 20%, 4% lime).
Following the success of Thomas’ first brand, The Turmeric Co., the inspiration for Raw Hydrate came from a frustration he experienced during his football career. To optimise his performance, Thomas relied on optimal hydration however, he found that the market only offered low-quality solutions such as sugary sports drinks and diluted blends. With innovation at the heart of everything he does, Thomas and his father set out to create a unique yet effective option that not only supported his own sporting performance, but something that anyone could enjoy day to day for extra hydration.
On the launch, Thomas ‘Hal’ Robson Kanu says “Raw Hydrate is a natural extension of our mission at The Turmeric Co. – to harness the power of nature to fuel a healthier, more vibrant life. The great success of The Turmeric Co. is a testament to more and more people turning to functional drinks to fuel their bodies and we’re confident the launch of Raw Hydrate will prove just as successful. Raw Hydrate is more than just a drink, it’s a force for good and a connection to the natural world that empowers us to thrive.”
The range is free from artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners and added sugars, with each flavour coming in at just 60 calories. Each flavour contains 3,600mg of electrolytes and counts as one of your five a day.
The Raw Hydrate range is available in-store at Sainsbury’s nationwide. RRP £2.50 per 250ml.
