Gander, a leading SaaS and AI tech platform, has announced the integration of its reduced-to-clear (RTC) technology with SOLUM’s Newton Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) at the Retail Technology Show held last week at ExCeL Centre in London. The collaboration marks a significant step in enhancing in-store experiences by enabling dynamic, real-time updates and communication between store systems, ESLs, and other devices.
The RTC integration enables Gander to automatically display reduced-to-clear products to thousands of local customers actively searching for discounts. By integrating this technology, retailers can maximise the reach of reduced price items across a wide range of platforms including Olio, Google Local Inventory, Meta, retailer websites and loyalty programmes. This collaboration drastically reduces food waste, increases footfall to stores and helps recover lost profits.
Stacey Williams, business development director at Gander, said: “The announcement of the launch of our first RTC integration with SOLUM, a global leader in ESL technology, marks an important step forward for Gander. This collaboration positions us uniquely to offer retailers across the UK an integrated solution that enhances their sales performance and customer engagement. Gander is a multi-award-winning SaaS and AI product that automatically maximises reach, engagement, and sales of reduced-to-clear products on the world’s biggest channels. With no staff training or additional labour costs, our solution is seamless and fully automated.”
Gander’s platform is the only one of its kind globally. The system automatically manages and optimises connections and feed types to multiple sales channels, ensuring that reduced-to-clear food products are efficiently sold to relevant customers. By sitting within the prevention segment of the WRAP Food Waste hierarchy, Gander maximises the sell-through rate of reduced price items. This commitment to food waste reduction has been recognised by WRAP, who have twice nominated Gander for the prestigious Earthshot Prize.
With a multi-channel partner display network that reaches 1 in 2 relevant households in the UK, Gander ensures that ESL integration enables dynamic pricing, inventory management, personalised customer communication, and seamless integration with POS systems and loyalty programmes, driving enhanced customer engagement and operational efficiency.
Mark Duckworth, country manager at SOLUM, adds: “As a leader in driving digital transformation in the global retail industry, SOLUM is pleased to introduce sustainable retail technology to the UK market. RTC integrated Newton ESLs offer immense benefits, including efficiency and cost savings. By eliminating the need for manual updates, it reduces labour costs and human error while providing customers with up-to-date product information and pricing instantly. This partnership with Gander presents a valuable opportunity to support retailers in rapidly responding to demand fluctuations, inventory levels, and promotional activities – ultimately contributing to food waste reduction.”
Gander’s automated and fully integrated solution offers retailers a cost effective way to drive revenue while reducing their environmental footprint. For more information, visit Gander at SOLUM’s stand BB270 at the National Convenience Show at the NEC Birmingham between 7-9 April.
