Gosh! makes its first move into the on-the-go snacking category

Gosh! is expanding into the on-the-go fixture with the launch of its new Mexican and Italian inspired Veg Bites snack packs. The two new SKUs are naturally delicious, a great source of protein, high in fibre and high in plant points in a 50g grab bag format, making them perfect for on-the-go snacking. The Mexican Veg Bites will be available to purchase from Morrisons stores nationwide individually, RRP £1.30, or as part of the meal deal.

The new Veg Bites snack pack formats are available in two tantalising world flavours, including Mexican inspired made with baked sweet potato, chickpeas, black beans, chipotle, harissa, herbs and spices, and an Italian inspired flavour made with red pepper, chickpeas, spinach and herbs. As with all Gosh! products, both snack packs are made using 100% natural ingredients, with each pack delivering roughly a third of consumers’ weekly Plant Points target. Providing a healthy alternative to ultra-processed options like crisps and chocolate, the new Veg Bites are the perfect meal deal snack choice, which will leave shoppers satisfied and nourished.

The UK is a nation of snackers with over 90% of UK adults admitting to snacking daily, and health now being more important to customers vs cost of living. But currently the food to go fixture doesn’t satisfy consumers’ needs for healthier snacks. As reported by Nielsen, 97% of meal deal shoppers are open to healthier snack options and 70% either currently or would buy plant-based snacks. However, plenty of meal deal offerings are over-processed and healthier options are often less convenient to eat. In addition, 38% of people say it is impossible to be healthy when having a shop bought, ready made lunch. In recent years, it’s been reported that up to 57% of daily energy intake comes from UPFs. With stricter HFSS legislation being introduced, there’s a growing gap in the market for healthier snacking options that align with the consumer demand for nutritious, clean-label products. Gosh! Veg Bites are designed to help fill this gap and drive momentum of healthier snacks within the food to go fixture. External research found that the new Veg Bites received over 80% excellent likeability score, putting them in a great position to fly off the shelves.

Caroline Hughes, marketing director at Gosh!, comments: “At Gosh! we are excited to be launching our new Veg Bites snack packs as our first innovation within the ‘on-the-go’ category. For too long, meal deal snacks have been dominated by unhealthy and uninspiring choices that lack nutritional benefits, and leave you feeling unsatisfied. Our new Veg Bites will enable shoppers to make healthier choices while on-the-go, without having to compromise on taste or convenience.”
