Australian menswear brand M.J. Bale will make its UK debut this November with the opening of a flagship store on Jermyn Street, St James’s, marking a significant step in the brand’s international expansion.
The 2,500 sq ft store will occupy a prominent corner position at 48–51 Jermyn Street / 30–31 Duke Street, within GPE’s newly developed 30 Duke Street St James’s scheme. The store benefits from impressive six metre floor-to-ceiling heights and a high-profile position in one of London’s most established and iconic menswear destinations.
Founded by Matt Jensen in 2009, M.J. Bale has built a reputation for premium menswear that combines traditional European tailoring with a relaxed Australian sensibility. The brand’s offer spans suits, jackets, shirts, trousers, and casualwear, with a particular focus on quality, provenance and what it describes as “garments of integrity”.
Sustainability sits at the heart of the M.J. Bale proposition. The business works with single-source Merino wool from conservation-focused and regenerative farming enterprises, giving customers greater transparency around provenance while supporting responsible land management and long-term environmental stewardship.
The brand’s commitment extends beyond product sourcing, with M.J. Bale actively recognising and supporting the wool-growing communities that underpin its supply chain. This connection between land, fibre, craft, and customer has become central to the brand’s identity and international appeal.
M.J. Bale’s Australian heritage is further reinforced through its sponsorship of leading national sports teams, reflecting the brand’s close association with performance, discipline, and modern Australian style.
The Jermyn Street flagship will predominantly showcase the brand’s tailoring collections, including the M.J. Bale Kingston single-source wool Made in Japan collection, the M.J. Bale x Lake Hāwea Station flannel suiting collection, and its Alpine-Active Merino wool ski collection.
Colliers One London is exclusively advising M.J. Bale on its UK and international real estate strategy, with the Jermyn Street opening representing the first step in the brand’s UK market entry.
Paul Souber, head of Colliers One London, commented: “We are delighted to have collaborated with M.J. Bale on its real estate strategy. The Jermyn Street launch marks an exciting milestone, and we are confident the brand’s unique proposition – combining quality, sustainability, provenance, and a compelling Australian heritage – will resonate strongly with the UK consumer.”
