Pimm’s takes centre court: Sainsbury’s predicts a 300% increase in Pimm’s sales during the tennis season

As tennis fans gear up to watch their favourites take to the court, Sainsbury’s has predicted a smashing surge in sales on classic food and drink to celebrate the iconic sporting season including Pimm’s, champagne, strawberries and cream.

As the action unfolds across the next two weeks, the supermarket is set for an ace season with Pimm’s sales anticipated to rise 300% week on week.

Meanwhile, bottles of bubbles are also expected to be popular, with the supermarket predicting a sales increase of 110% for Canti and a 70% increase in sales of Lanson.

The supermarket is serving up a host of savings on staple items for the tennis season with Nectar Prices. Customers can save over 50% on Pimm’s 1L bottles, and save a quarter on Champagne Lanson Le Black Création, now down to £33 from £44 from 3rd – 16th July – ace news for fans of the summer tipples.

No tournament is complete without the ultimate pairing of strawberries and cream. Sainsbury’s is expecting to sell up to 1,400 tonnes of strawberries over the next two weeks – the equivalent weight of 25 million tennis balls – as well as a predicted sales increase of 100% on pots of double cream.
