Gousto, the UK’s leading recipe box for choice has officially expanded into Northern Ireland, the first venture outside mainland UK for the tech-driven recipe box company. This milestone not only brings Gousto’s high-quality, convenient meals to a brand-new audience but also demonstrates the continued innovation and ambition that lies at the heart of the company.

Gousto will proudly present its extensive 100 weekly recipes, and officially open its boxes to Northern Ireland on 25th June*, giving Northern Ireland households their first taste of the world of Gousto. This move allows Gousto to share its industry-leading service with a broader community, offering more families the chance to enjoy a huge variety of nutritious, home-cooked meals without the hassle.

As in the rest of the UK, Gousto will be the only recipe box provider to cater for one through to five-person households.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Gousto to even more households with the launch in Northern Ireland,” said Timo Boldt, CEO and Founder of Gousto.  “We’re offering Northern Ireland the same amazing choice and variety the rest of the country has come to love, with chef-created recipes to suit all occasions and tastes. This expansion is a significant step in our vision to become the UK’s most loved way to eat dinner”.

Northern Ireland households will receive the same experience as those who use the service across the rest of the country, from fingertips on the app, breadth of recipe choices and customisation, right through to unboxing. Northern Ireland customers will have delivery on Monday and Tuesday to start with, versus the seven days in the rest of the UK.

Key highlights of Gousto’s expansion into Northern Ireland include:

  • Unrivalled Choice: A wide range of expertly created recipes from over 44 regions across the world, including vegetarian, plant-based, and family-friendly options, designed to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. Plus the Save & Savour range that offers the same big Gousto flavour at 50p less per portion.

  • Fresh Ingredients: High-quality, fresh ingredients delivered directly to customers’ homes.

  • Tech-Driven Personalisation: AI-powered meal recommendations, customisable meal options and an intuitive online platform for a seamless user experience.

  • A More Sustainable Dinner:  With less than 1% food waste in the entire operation, Gousto produces 23% fewer carbon emissions than the equivalent meal from supermarkets.

Gousto’s high-tech fulfilment centre in Warrington, (which is the size of five football pitches) will pick, pack and deliver Northern Ireland boxes whilst continuing to build in efficiency, acting as the enabler for ongoing innovation. Powered by three in-house developed algorithms – auto replenish, auto-routing and pick face optimisation – Warrington’s maximum pack speed is 140% faster than its first-generation facilities with a pick accuracy of 99.97%. The high level of pick accuracy elevates the customer experience improving customer satisfaction and retention. At the same time, operational food waste is limited to less than 1%.

The company’s use of tech and AI powers its leading customer proposition by offering the most recipe choice and shortest lead times. The increased focus in these areas led to the company’s speedy return to profit in 2023, delivering a record underlying EBITDA of £26 million and industry-leading margins.

Gousto is capitalising on this financial performance and progression, by focusing its efforts on growing its customer base within Northern Ireland.
