Each year, households across the UK snap up millions of pumpkins for carving, decorating, and seasonal treats. To show the sheer scale of Britain’s pumpkin obsession, using weight data and national sales figures, new analysis by Best New Bingo Sites has revealed some frightfully fun comparisons – from broomsticks and cauldrons to haunted houses.

 Witches’ Broomsticks

If pumpkins were swapped for broomsticks, Britain would have enough for 48 million witches to take flight. That’s more broomsticks than there are households in the UK Haunted Houses

The nation’s pumpkins weigh the same as 3,087 haunted houses. That’s enough to build an entire ghostly neighbourhood Boiled Sweets

The UK’s 24 million pumpkins weigh in at a colossal 168,000 tonnes, which is equivalent to 21 billion boiled sweets. That’s almost three treats for every person on Earth – a trick-or-treater’s dream (or a dentist’s nightmare). Chocolate Bars

The total weight of Britain’s pumpkins matches 1.5 billion 110 g chocolate bars. Enough to stockpile the nation’s sweet cupboards for years. Cauldrons

It would take around 13 million cast-iron cauldrons to hold the UK’s annual pumpkin haul. That’s a lot of pumpkin stew bubbling away.

 Coffins

The nation’s pumpkins weigh the same as around 2.24 million coffins, enough to house an entire vampire army,  or fill more than a few haunted graveyards this Halloween.

 Zombies

Britain’s pumpkins weigh as much as 1.86 million average adult men, or, for Halloween purposes, 1.86 million zombies. That’s a spine-tingling undead army big enough to take over cities across the country.

 Vampire Bats

If each pumpkin weighed the same as a small bat (around 32.5 g), the UK’s annual pumpkin haul would equal the weight of over 5.1 billion bats. That’s a cloud of winged creatures big enough to turn the Halloween night sky pitch black.

Sue Dawson, Operations Director at Best New Bingo Sites, comments:

“Pumpkins have become a staple of British households each Halloween, and when you look at the numbers, the scale is genuinely staggering. These spooky comparisons are a fun way to show just how big the UK’s pumpkin obsession has become.”
