The move reflects growing UK consumer interest in Japanese and broader Asian spirits, as shoppers increasingly seek flavour-driven, aesthetically led products from emerging global categories.
John Vine, spirits Buyer at Waitrose, commented: “The addition of Ukiyo Japanese Blossom Gin strengthens our premium gin range with a truly distinctive product that reflects current consumer trends, particularly the growing interest in Asian spirits and flavours. Ukiyo’s elegant profile and beautiful presentation are sure to resonate with our customers and attract new shoppers looking for something unique and internationally inspired.”
Ukiyo Japanese Blossom Gin, created in Chiba, east of Tokyo, is infused with traditional Japanese botanicals including cherry blossom and yuzu. Its delicate floral character and striking packaging have made it a standout in both on- and off-trade markets, with growing demand in the UK and internationally.
Ryan McFarland, chief commercial & strategy officer of Drinksology Kirker Greer, said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with Waitrose on this significant national listing. Waitrose customers are curious, quality-focused, and open to discovery, making Ukiyo Japanese Blossom Gin a natural fit. This is another important milestone for the Ukiyo brand and for Kirker Greer Spirits, as we continue to build awareness and gain market share across both retail and hospitality channels throughout the UK.”
The listing marks a major step forward in Kirker Greer Spirits’ UK retail strategy and signals the increasing demand for premium, globally inspired gin offerings among British consumers.
Ukiyo Blossom Gin will be available at an introductory price of £26 until 3rd June, after which it will retail at £31 RRP.
