Ueshima Coffee CompanyJapan’s leading coffee brand, Ueshima Coffee Company, has continued its rapid UK expansion with a major new listing in Tesco, the UK’s largest supermarket chain.

Ueshima’s coffee is now available in 580 Tesco stores nationwide, where shoppers can find the brand’s best-selling House Blend and Fuji Mountain blends available as ground coffee, with Fuji Mountain also offered in whole bean format.

This milestone marks a significant step forward in Ueshima’s UK retail journey, following a strong market entry in 2021 with listings in Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, and a further expansion into Morrisons in 2023, in addition to listings on Ocado and Amazon along the journey. The Tesco listing comes on the heels of Ueshima releasing its first ready-to-drink canned coffees to the UK market in 2024.

Louise Tabor, head of marketing at Ueshima, UK, comments: “Securing a listing in Tesco represents a major achievement in our commitment to bringing authentic Japanese coffee to UK consumers. We’re excited for even more shoppers to try our coffee and enjoy a taste of Japanese coffee culture at home.”

Ueshima has also recently debuted a new packaging look, which will roll out across all retailers from May. The new packs feature a modern, sleeker look, with bold colours to help shoppers find their favourite blends on shelf. Its three blends – Fuji Mountain, House Blend and Tokyo Roast stay the same.

Ueshima’s growing retail footprint reflects its ambition to establish Japanese coffee culture in the UK, delivering consistent, high-quality blends rooted in craftsmanship and tradition. Established in Kobe in 1933, Ueshima Coffee Company prides itself on being Japan’s top coffee choice and has continually thrived within the rich Japanese coffee culture. The brand’s coffee masters have dedicated decades to perfecting the craft of coffee, subtly influencing coffee trends worldwide.

Information on the products:

  • House Blend: signature blend; refined Japanese flavour – rich and balanced. 100% Arabica and Rainforest Alliance Certified.
  • Fuji Mountain: dark roast blend; inspired by Mount Fuji – bold and intense. 100% Arabica and Rainforest Alliance Certified.

Ueshima has built partnerships with operators including Waitrose & Partners, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Amazon, Ocado, Harvey Nichols, Sticks’n’Sushi, Harrods, Japan Centre, Shoryu, Oakman Inns and Compass, and the Ueshima Coffee Company Coffee Bar at Ichiba Westfield London.

Ueshima Coffee Company is a brand owned and operated by UCC, which delivers a total coffee solution for foodservice, hospitality and retail operators.
