Emma Sleep targets athletes and active lifestyles with new Performance Collection

Emma Sleep For those into fitness, recovery starts with a good night’s sleep. Emma Sleep’s new Performance Collection has been developed with exactly that in mind, offering a premium range of mattresses designed to optimise sleep quality and support performance.

Building on the success of products such as its award-winning Hybrid Pillow, Emma has introduced three new performance-focused mattresses, available in sizes from Single to EU Queen.

“We are obsessed with sleep performance,” says Dr. Dennis Schmoltzi, co-founder and CEO at Emma. “With the Performance Collection, we engineered every layer with intention, combining ergonomic design and scientific validation to create a comfort experience that supports recovery and long-term wellbeing.”

The three mattresses are created with the same advanced core, but with different heights and comfort experiences.

The Performance Collection features three key components:

  • AirGrid® Tech: engineered for adaptive airflow by design. This helps users to stay comfortable and cooler through the night.

  • The DeepCalm Comfort ™ blends contouring comfort with confident full-body support, for a calm, cushioned feel that stays responsive as people move.

  • A three-layer heat system. Combining a cool-to-touch cover, AirGrid Tech’s open structure, and a breathable hybrid spring core to promote airflow helps manage heat and keeps users’ sleep climate comfortable through the night.

Each mattress also goes through 8 – 10 tests and 35 – 40 hours of rigorous validation at Emma’s Frankfurt lab.

To coincide with the launch, Emma Sleep spoke with Dr. Allie Hare, sleep consultant and Tatler Top Doctor for Sleep, about the importance of sleep for muscle recovery, hormone regulation and physical performance.

Dr. Allie explains: “Sleep is vital for muscle repair as laid out above, but it is also key for hormone regulation and overall physical performance. In terms of hormonal regulation, sleep is closely tied to several hormone systems: growth hormone release is highest during sleep and is key for muscle repair and replenishing energy stores; by contrast, cortisol levels fall at nighttime and rise towards morning.

“Poor sleep can disrupt and blunt this rhythm; disrupted sleep can lower leptin and raise ghrelin levels, and these are the hormones that tell us if we are hungry or full. Sleep loss is therefore closely linked to weight gain; finally, sleep loss reduces testosterone levels and insulin sensitivity, even after just a few nights of restriction. Sleep is therefore a key component of maintaining hormonal balance.”
