Great new look, same great taste – major rebrand for Malcolm Allan

Malcolm Allan, the renowned Scottish Lorne sausage, steak pie and black pudding manufacturer, has undergone a major rebrand to create a contemporary new look that reflects its family butcher tradition as a trusted supplier of the finest products.

The significant investment in the rebrand is the largest launch in the company’s 71-year-old history, with the eye-catching new navy, gold and white logo and packaging underlining the many decades of family butcher knowledge that has gone into perfecting the Malcolm Allan range, as well as the company’s Scottish heritage.

Gordon Robinson, site director at Malcolm Allan, said: “The rebrand marks a major new chapter in the company’s history, reflecting our proud Scottish roots and tradition as a trusted high-quality food manufacturer. Our key message in the rebrand is that we have great new look but with the same great taste.”

Founded in 1954 as a family butcher shop, Malcolm Allan now employs over 100 people at its modern processing facility in Larbert in central Scotland, supplying retail, wholesale and foodservice customers with a broad range of products, including Lorne (square) sausage, steak pies, black pudding, burgers, sausages and other BBQ meat lines.

The rebrand includes a switch to recyclable cardboard packaging for the Malcolm Allan steak pie range that comprises specially selected cuts of beef braised to a traditional recipe in a rich gravy, topped with hand-made crispy puff pastry.

“Our great tasting steak pies offer unrivalled quality at an affordable price and are the same quality as found in butcher shops, and we are proud that our Lorne sausages are so popular that we are Scotland’s largest producer of this iconic product,” said Gordon Robinson.

The rebrand is a direct follow-on from Malcolm Allan coming under new ownership last year, which included the acquisition of a controlling investment in famous haggis manufacturer Macsween of Edinburgh Ltd to create a new food group (Macsween Allan Food Group) with synergies that benefit both businesses.

Bill Hazeldean, chairman of the Macsween Allan Food Group, said: “The rebrand for Malcolm Allan is part of our ongoing evolution, which will include the development of new products and exploring new markets. We are proud that Malcolm Allan operates one of the most modern and efficient meat processing and bakery operations in Scotland. With our great new brand identity, and supported by our hard-working and dedicated staff, we envisage exciting times ahead for the group.”
