National TrustSissinghurst Castle Garden, one of the most visited horticultural landmarks in the UK, has officially opened its new electric vehicle (EV) charging bays, providing a major boost for sustainable tourism in Kent.

The launch of the eight new AC charging bays, delivered in partnership with RAW Charging, marks a significant milestone in the National Trust’s efforts to cater to the growing number of EV drivers travelling from across the South East and London. The opening is part of a wider, rollout of charging infrastructure across the Trust’s portfolio, with over 450 bays installed across 55 locations.

This momentum is set to continue across the country, with further National Trust sites preparing to go live. Hidcote in Gloucestershire is scheduled to also open eight AC charging bays, while Croft Castle and Parkland in Herefordshire will introduce six AC charging bays, ensuring that visitors to these historic landscapes can recharge their vehicles easily, whilst enjoying the sights on offer.

Visitors to Sissinghurst Castle Garden can now charge their vehicles while exploring one of the National Trust’s most celebrated destinations, including its historic gardens and wider grounds. By providing reliable, easy-to-use charging on site, the new installation makes it simpler for more people to enjoy a day out at Sissinghurst Castle Garden and return home with a fully charged vehicle, while supporting lower-carbon travel.

Jason Simpson, CEO of RAW Charging, the leading destination EV charge point provider for hospitality, leisure, and retail destinations across the UK. said: “Sissinghurst Castle Garden is a perfect example of the kind of amazing destinations we aim to connect with best-in-class EV infrastructure. This new installation delivers the reliability and convenience EV drivers expect – all in support of the National Trust’s sustainability goals.”

The charging points at Sissinghurst are operated by RAW Charging and designed for maximum ease of use, featuring wider spacing to ensure interfaces are easily accessible. Visitors can start a session via the ChargePoint App or by using a simple contactless payment method. This initiative is part of a nationwide programme aimed at energising over 300 additional bays at heritage locations in the coming months.

This latest installation follows a period of major success for RAW Charging, including being named Zapmap Best Destination Network for 2026 and receiving ICC Gold accreditation in late 2025. These awards cement RAW’s position as the charging partner of choice for the UK’s leading leisure, retail, and hospitality destinations.
