Pasta is comfort – easy, familiar, endlessly satisfying. But too often we get stuck in the loop of the same recipes: a trusty bolognese, a jar of pesto, the reliable carbonara. What if pasta could be more?
This book is an invitation to rethink pasta: to explore fresh flavours, global influences, and unexpected pairings that bring new joy to the table. From their home in Cumbria, Northern Pasta Co. has pioneered spelt pasta made from British grains, and in their first cookbook they share recipes of their own alongside favourites from celebrated chefs and food creators including Max La Manna, Tom Hunt, Joe Woodhouse, Saliha Khan, Olia Hercules and Ed Barrow.
From sauce-hugging shapes to bold, flavour-packed combinations, these recipes prove pasta is never boring. It’s time to fall in love with it all over again.
About the author: Imogen and Matt are a husband- and-wife duo on a mission to reimagine pasta with British grains. Northern Pasta Co. began in 2022 when Imogen, working at a local artisan bakery, discovered the flavour and feel of British spelt and how different it made her cooking and eating. Inspired, she and Matt teamed up with a dedicated farmer and miller to create a pasta recipe that honours the grain, the land it’s grown on, and the meals we share around the table. From their home in the Lake District, they now craft their pasta slowly using traditional artisan methods, and it can be found in Selfridges & Co, Booths, Whole Foods Market, Ocado and Fenwick.. Pasta for the People is their first book; a joyful celebration of what pasta can be.
