Waitrose Jesmond relaunches following a multi-million pound refurbishment designed to deliver an even better experience for customers.
The shop welcomed back customers at 8am on Wednesday 12th August, following a five-week transformation. Marking its 15th anniversary this year, the upgraded branch features a host of new improvements.
Highlights of the investment include:
New look bakery, updated beer, wine and spirits and improved fruit & vegetables sections with even more delicious products.
Improved store layout whether you’re shopping for dinner for tonight or topping up on fresh produce, the shop has been thoughtfully redesigned to ensure every visit is easy and enjoyable.
New refrigeration for improved energy efficiency.
Electronic shelf labels which free up Partners from having to maintain printed labels so they can prioritise customer service.
Local customers are able to pick up John Lewis, Waitrose Entertaining and Waitrose Cellar orders in store and order home delivery from the shop using UberEats and Deliveroo.
Branch nanager, Anji Hewat, who leads the team of 50 Partners, said: “As we celebrate 15 years in Jesmond this year, this multi-million pound investment is a huge thank you to our local community for their continued loyalty. The whole team is excited to welcome back our customers and show everyone around their new and improved store.”
The very first customers will be greeted with a complimentary tote, perfect for bagging up their new groceries.
Nationwide investment
Waitrose is committed to investing in its estate, including nationwide refurbishments and new openings. This forms part of a £1bn, multi-year programme designed to offer the very best products, service and shops for customers.
Waitrose also opened its latest shop in Chelmer Village, Essex earlier this month and is on track to open three additional new stores this year – two full-line supermarkets in Hale Barns (Greater Manchester) and Cricklewood (North West London), and a convenience store in Ascot (Berkshire). It is also refurbishing 28 shops this year and launching into airport travel retail for the first time with 4 RELAY stores in Heathrow Terminal 2.
